It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rachel Khoury. Our sweet angel passed in the early hours of Feb 5, 2025. She was 38 years old.
Rachel was born on Nov 6, 1986 in Loveland, Colorado. She spent her youth in Wisconsin and later Findlay, Ohio. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She met her husband while finishing an internship at St. John’s Health and moved to Jackson permanently shortly thereafter. They were married in 2013 and were blessed with a baby boy in 2014.
Rachel was a beacon of light, a shooting star. She was the most amazing wife. She transformed our house into the most loving home. She was the foundation of our family; confident, loving, strong. Her son David was the center of her world. She showered him with love and joy. The world is a sadder place without her smile and laughter.
Rachel battled cancer much of her adult life. She was the epitome of a fighter. She bared her soul to inspire us all. Her journey was very public. She sacrificed her privacy and gifted us her strength. She helped countless others along the way. She was a source of comfort and knowledge for so many fighting their own battles. She was selfless. Through her Instagram account (dontmetswithrachel) she detailed her life and her struggles while providing inspiration, advice, and courage to others.
Rachel assumed ownership of the self-care corner in the oncology department at St. John’s Health and made it her own. She arranged donations, shopped, organized and stocked it with thoughtful gifts for others in their most trying of times. She continued to maintain “Rachel’s Corner” until the very end, requiring a wheelchair to navigate the hospital halls on her last visit.
Rachel had a particular passion and aptitude for nursing. She began as a nursing assistant, then excelled at nursing school. She was happiest when she was helping others. She was an extraordinary nurse. Her greatest talent was developing rapport and providing comfort to her patients. She was a ray of sunshine in designer scrubs.
Her interests were many and her talents immense. Rachel had an amazing eye for fashion. She loved true crime, wine, dancing, and music. She loved concerts, traveling and family. She was the life of the party, always and without fail.
Rachel is survived by her loving husband David, her son David, and her parents Jim and Jean Stuck, her three loving sisters Lauren Packey (Michael, Myles and Brooks), Sydney Brown (Paul and Bobbi) and Olivia Stuck as well as her grandmother Aimee Streblow. She is loved and missed by countless friends and extended family members.
A celebration of life to honor and celebrate Rachel’s life will be held on Saturday, February 22 nd at 5pm at the Lodge at Jackson Hole Conference Center for those who wish to attend. Per Rachel, “have a celebration of my life – NO black attire!” In lieu of flowers, Rachel requests donations to breast cancer research in her memory, reflecting her generous and selfless spirit.
Her legacy of love, kindness, strength and courage will live on through those who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed but always remembered. Rest in peace, my princess. You are now and forever in our hearts.
