Michael J. McPhilomy

June 4, 1947 — July 16, 2024

MICHAEL JOSEPH McPHILOMY passed away of a sudden heart attack on July 16, 2024 at Big Springsby Granite Falls, in Jackson, Wyoming a place he loved the most.

Michael was born on June 4, 1947, in Peekskill, NY. He is survived by his loving wife Susie of 27 years, 6 of his children, and 2 of his adopted children, Maria and Vincent.

Mike had worked since early childhood and knew the value of hard work, which he passed on to his children. He had worked in construction operating all kinds of heavy equipment, trucking and knew how to build houses, stone walls and waterfalls. Due to his love of nature, he travelled a lot and showed the wonders of nature to hundreds of friends, family members, and people who visited his family from overseas. He was an avid Nascar fan, loved racing and raced Legend cars with his sons on many occasions. He started his career in New York, gradually moving to California, and Utah where he met his beloved wife of 27 years, Dr. Susanna McPhilomy. He then moved to the east coast to work in New Jersey on the hurricane Sandy clean-up projects. He finally settled in Maryland with his wife who worked hard and enjoyed traveling with him. Although they loved traveling together to many countries and states, his most favorite place remained Yellowstone and Jackson where he left his spirit to roam.

Mike had a passion for life. He lived large and loved harder. He was a loving husband & father that was proud of his children’s achievements. The family vacations and trips to national parks were some of his fondest memories. In his free time, he loved to hunt, fish, camp, run ATVs and snowmobiles especially at his beloved states of Utah, Idaho, Wyoming. He was very blessed and will be sorely missed.

Memorial services held in SLC, UT, on July 23, 2024 and in Fort Washington, MD, on August 3, 2024 at his home residence.
