Mike Doyle of Jackon, Wyoming passed away on June 10, 2024 after a hard fought battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Doyle, his sons Michael Doyle (fiance McKenzie Chadderdon) and James Doyle, his sisters Terri Doyle, Kelly Doyle, and Cindy McGuire (husband John McGuire), his stepchildren, Samantha Livingston (husband Hadyn Peery) and Christopher Livingston, and his step grandchildren, Livingston and Theodore Peery.
Mike was born in 1960 the second of four children to Barbara and James Doyle in Wayzata, Minnesota. After moving to New York, New Jersey, and Illinois, his family finally landed in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. The Badger State would be an inspiration for Mike as he gained a love of hunting, fishing, skiing, and boating. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1978.
While attending the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Mike had the opportunity to visit Jackson, Wyoming with his ski club. He and his roommate returned to La Crosse, promptly packed up all of their valuables, and moved to Jackson a week later. Mike spent the next 45 years in Jackson creating a beautiful family and cultivating many lifelong friendships.
Mike worked in the valley for the Bill Briggs Ski School, The US Geological Survey, he flipped burgers, shoveled roofs, and learned countless construction skills while working on a variety of projects throughout Jackson. Mike later established his own construction company, MKD Construction, building beautiful houses in the valley and mountains he loved so much.
Mike met the love of his life, Elaine, at a charity golf event at the Jackson Hole Golf & Tennis Club. The two were wed in Jackson in June of 1996; they welcomed their first son Michael in January of 1997 and their second son James in February of 1999.
Mike’s sons, Michael and James, were his greatest joy. He passed to them a passion for hunting, fishing, and golf as well as the values of hard work, perseverance, and caring for those you love. Michael and James discovered they had a love of sports, especially hockey and baseball, from an early age, and both boys excelled. When Mike wasn’t traveling across the country supporting his sons’ athletic adventures, you could find him teaching his boys the best places to fish and hunt in the Tetons.
Mike was a loving father and husband, an inspirationally proud man, a patriot, and a true friend who always had your back. A private service in the mountains and rivers Mike loved so much will take place on Saturday, June 15th. In lieu of flowers, the family asks supporters to consider donating to St. Jude Research Hospital or Mission 22 to support our nation’s veterans
