Joel Bauchspies

Joel Eric Bauchspies, 44, of Jackson, Wyoming died August 1st in his home. He was the son of Bessie (Mangan) Bauchspies of Lehighton, PA and the late Wilbur "Cap" Bauchspies. A 1983 graduate of Lehighton Area High School, he then attended Bloomsburg University and earned his Bachelor of Science, Business Administration and later his teaching certification in science. While at Bloomsburg, he worked in the Department of Computer Services as a computer lab assistant. He also worked as a lifeguard at the Lehighton Pool, for the Lehighton Recreation Commission, Pocono Whitewater Rafting, and was a substitute teacher in Lehighton and Bloomsburg. After moving to Jackson, WY, he owned and operated the Jackson Hole Soap Company since 2001, and sold his soap products to many shop owners and hotels in the Jackson area. He also worked at Rendezvous Bistro Restaurant in Jackson. Joel was a member of the Phi Sigma Xi Social Fraternity and the Jackson Elks. He was an avid skier and snow boarder and also loved cycling, hunting, hiking, camping, rafting, traveling and scuba diving. He was working towards his Master's Diving Certification. Joel just participated in a once-in-a-lifetime rafting trip in the Grand Canyon. Surviving in addition to his mother, are his beloved dog Sadie, a brother Dennis and his wife Bonnie of Franklin Township, Lehighton, a sister, Kathy wife of Lee Getz of Lehighton, a sister Kay Bauchspies of Maui, Hawaii, two Nieces, Kelly and Kristen Bauchspies of Lehighton, and two nephews, Benjamin and Alexander Getz of Las Vegas, Nevada. He was preceded in death by his brother, John, his grandparents, Wilbur and Madeline (Hoffman) Bauchspies and Clifford Mangan and Grace (Ahner) Mangan-Sutters. Service: Memorial service to be held on Friday August 27 at 11AM at Schaeffer Funeral Home 3rd & Alum Streets Lehighton, PA with SALM Emma Weaver officiating, Committal service to follow at Gnaden Huetten Cemetery, Lehighton.
