Greg met his wife, Tina (Vess) Seay of Crozet, VA and they were married in 1989. For their honeymoon they hiked the Appalachian Trail, 2,157 miles from Georgia to Maine. Having realized that it was unnecessary to rejoin what he called the rat race, their lives were forever changed. They outfitted a cargo van to live in while traveling around the American west rock climbing and backpacking. They developed seasonal and circuitous paths from one favorite place to the next, and settled in Alpine, a small town in western Wyoming along the Snake River a" 30 miles downstream from Jackson Hole. Captivated by the spirit of the people, the grandeur of the area, and the access to limitless outdoor recreational pursuits, they built a cabin together on the edge of the Bridger-Teton National Forest.
The master carpenter savored his time fly fishing, fly tying, shooting, hunting, mountaineering, rock and ice climbing, snow skiing, boating a" anything that kept him outdoors where he was most at home. Greg was admirable in his ability to maintain friendships from the multiple dimensions of his life. An avid learner and teacher, he passionately shared his knowledge and experience, being an unwitting mentor to many unsuspecting souls. Gregory proudly served on the Alpine, WY Planning and Zoning Commission.
He is survived by his brave and loving wife Tina RenAC. Seay; his parents, Curtis W.and Diana MacLeod Seay of Troy, VA; brother Norman Seay of Macungie, PA (wife Nancy Neely Seay and daughter Paige); brother Bradley Seay of Davidsonville, MD (wife Romey Pittman and daughter Elizabeth 'Bizzy'). His ashes will rest in Fork Union, VA. He was loved and respected by many and will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
