Douglas Charles Fields passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024, in his home on the Hoback River from complications related to diabetes. He was 56.
Born November 15, 1967, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Chuck Fields and Patricia Burnett, Doug grew up exploring the outdoors backpacking, camping, skiing, fishing and hunting throughout Utah and the West. Doug married Joelle Summers in 1993 and they later divorced. Doug then moved to Wyoming, living in Pinedale and Jackson, which provided unlimited opportunities for him to pursue his love of the outdoors and make many lasting friends.
Happiness for Doug was spending time in nature with his family and many friends. He learned to ski at Alta at the age of 3 and enjoyed backpacking in the Wasatch Mountains and southern Utah desert with his friends. Skiing and duck hunting with his brother Dave were other favorite activities. Despite severe allergies, two of Doug’s most cherished friends were his dogs Chester and then Jefe, who went everywhere with him.
Doug is survived by his father, Chuck (Barb); his mother, Patricia; his brother, Dave (Melissa); his nephew, Charlie; and niece, Meredith, as well as numerous aunts and uncles. He is preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Floyd and Dorothy Jones, Hugh and Marge Burnett and Leonard and Pauline Fields.
The family is planning a celebration of life to be held at a later date.
