Christopher Aloysius Kelly passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024 on the Teton Mountains in Jackson, Wyoming doing what he loved.
Chris was born to Randall and Betty Kelly in Kansas City, Missouri. He is survived by his loving wife Mary of 36 years and his children Ryan, Courtney, Colin, grandson Liam Patrick and daughter-in-law Lindsey. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters Jeanne, Karen, Jim, Nancy, Mike and Lynn and many in-laws, out-laws, nieces, nephews and many caring, loyal, life-long friends.
Chris grew up in Leawood KS and attended Cure of Ars grade school and Rockhurst High where he played soccer and was second team all-metro. From there he took his academic ventures to Kansas State University where he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta house and graduated in Electrical Engineering Technology. He was an avid K-State fan and would attend the games no matter the weather. He started his career working in Fort Worth, TX at General Dynamics before moving back to the Kansas City area working for Black & Veatch and Burns & McDonnell. He recently retired in January of 2022.
Chris was a lifelong Catholic and an active parishioner at Saint Michael the Archangel. He was involved in the Knights of Columbus and help start the school’s first Boy Scout Troop. His faith was important to him and guided him throughout his life.
Chris had a passion for life. He lived large and loved harder. He was a loving husband & father that was proud of and supported his kids in all their endeavors. The family vacations and ski trips were some of his fondest memories. In his free time, he loved to fish, especially at his beloved Similar Island in Canada.
A visitation and rosary will be held Thursday, February 29, 2024, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at Saint Michael the Archangel, Leawood, KS. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 11 am, also at the church. In lieu of flowers, you’re welcome to donate to your favorite charity in Chris’s memory. He was very blessed and will be sorely missed.
