Barbara was born and raised with her younger brother in a small suburb of Chicago, Illinois. In her youth, Barb spent several summers vacationing with her family in the Jackson Hole area which is where she fell in love with horses and the Rocky Mountains. After finishing college she moved to Aspen, Colorado to become a 'ski bum' and eventually met her 'cowboy' and future husband. Glen and Barbara were married in Moose, Wyoming at the Chapel of the Transfiguration located in Grand Teton National Park. They continued to live in Aspen with their young family until early 1973 when they moved to St. Ignatius, Montana to work on a ranch. In 1987, Barb lost her husband to a long term illness. Shortly after she came back to Jackson Hole to live and work at Togwotee Mountain Lodge in Moran, Wyoming. In 1989, she became manager of the Alpine Motel (formerly known as Al's Motel), located in the town of Jackson, Wyoming. Throughout the winter months Barb spent her free time bowling at the Elk's Lodge and attending church. During the summer season she spent her time off at Togwotee Mountain Lodge enjoying horseback riding and evening chuck wagon dinners. Barb lived and worked at the motel for over twenty years until her retirement. She lived for a short time in her home in Rafter J before coming to stay at St. John's Living Center in January 2011.
